Most people are right or left handed, and very few are both. Those who can use either hand are called ambidextrous. Ambidextrous parts are parts you can use with either hand. They are ideal for all people. Generally Ambidextrous parts make using your weapon easier. They do this by allowing you to use the respective part from either side of the weapon. Even if you are not ambidextrous yourself, these parts can make using your AR-15 easier and more convenient as you can manipulate the tool from either side.
If safety truly is first, then the Ambi Safety or Fire Control would be the most important Ambidextrous part there is. This can really come in handy if you are training someone. The ability to reach over, no matter which side you are on, and stop the gun from being fired is a plus. Of course, that is the beauty and essence of these Ambidextrous parts, the convenience of being able to use them from both sides of the firearm.
The Mag Release is a great Ambi part to have because you won’t always be in the same position when you are changing magazines. It is important to practice changing out your mags if you want to be fast and efficient at it, and having an Ambi Mag Release will only help. At times Depending on where your mags are on your person or in your bag, you will be reaching to different places to grab those mags. Having a Release like this allows you to grab your Mag with whatever hand is convenient and work the mag release with your other hand. You can then grab the old mag with that same hand or, more likely, with the fingers of the hand with the new Mag. Whatever way you do it, you will figure it out, and the Ambidextrous Magazine Release will only help.
The Ambi Bolt Release has a lot of different versions, and can be something like a B.A.D. Lever. The B.A.D. Lever not only makes it so you can use either hand, but make it so the hand near the trigger can do it without reaching too far. Whether or not you want to take advantage of this type of Bolt Release is up to you. Not everyone is a fan of this tool, even to the point where they feel it can be a bad thing. So if you feel like the full lever is too much, there are still Ambidextrous Bolt Releases that do not have the lever going into the trigger well, and they still make it plenty easier to use.
The Charging Handle might be the most popular Ambidextrous part. Its popularity might come from the fact that they are relatively inexpensive, easy to install, and can add some personality or at least some color, as they come in many different styles and colors. Being able to charge your AR-15 with whatever hand you choose is a no brainer. We have some great Ambidextrous Charging Handles for low prices and with a lot of choices, check out our selection
Finally the Sling Adapter End Plate is the last thing that is called ambidextrous. It just means you can run your sling through it on either side. This may or may not be important at any time, most likely not though. When it comes to things being technically Ambidextrous, most of the AR-15 is. You can shoot it right handed or left handed, so there you have it. The grip, the handguard, the stock, everything is really Ambidextrous already, except for the ones mentioned above, those are the special case.
